Description
23" (58 cm.) Poured wax shoulder head of adult lady with head slightly inclined sideways, oval face, elongated throat, soft rose tinted complexion, blue glass eyes, tinted facial features, closed mouth, well-defined ears, soft mohair braided hair in small inserted tendrils, modeled bosom, original softly-stuffed muslin body, poured wax lower arms and legs, bare feet, wearing pantalets and knit capelet. Condition: generally excellent, imperceiptible reglue on legs. Marks: H.M. Aileen Queen of Dollock nee O'Brien, Governess to the Jessamen Family (old ink inscription on front torso). Comments: in the Pierrotti manner, circa 1880. Value Points: exquisite beautify of the well-preserved portrait with intriguing provenance; the doll is posed on antique cane seat chair which is included.
