A six-sided box with intricate shaping has alternate bands of soft grey velvet and decorative paper bands depicting gold tooled symbols on a grey paper background,the symbols including peacock,swan,Pisces-like fish,and three of women dancing. A grey velvet pouch top with cord drawstrings and tassels is above the box portion. French,mid-19th century. Superb and well-preserved candy box of luxury design and construction.
