Description
8" (20 cm.) square. A wooden base (which is the bottom of the wooden box in which the toy is preserved) with tinplate ground displays a racetrack arrangement with pewter posts and four painted metal cars with drivers. When the front lever is activated, the drivers briskly drive around the circle. The lever is labeled "Jeu de Course". Condition: generally excellent, mechanism functions well. Comments: French, circa 1900, the popular game was made in various sizes and styles, the most common featuring a horse race. Value Points: rare variation of the Jeu de Course game featuring race cars, and in charming diminutive size.
