Description
14" (36 cm.) excluding bonnet. Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with defined bosom, blue glass inset eyes with pronounced spiral threading and darker blue iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, slightly "O"-shaped parted outlined lips, pierced ears, metal screw at back of head attaching to internal rubber ball "nursing" mechanism, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid bebe body with gusset jointing at hips and knees, curved kid upper arms, bisque forearms with curled fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 3. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, his Bebe Teteur model was deposed in 1879, his model, based upon body style, eyes, and nursing turn screw was made in 1882. Value Points: pristine near mint condition of the particularly beautiful example of this bebe, very sturdy and clean body, perfect bisque including hands, intact nursing mechanism, and wearing original costume including white pique undergarments and slippers, lace dress with matching elaborate bonnet, with silver pacifier.
