29" (74 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes with pronounced spiral threading and darker blue iris rims, thick dark eyeliner, delicately painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, painted teeth, dimpled chin, pierced ears, elongated blonde mohair wig over cork pate, very plump French kid bebe body with gusset jointing at hips and knees, bisque forearms with sculpted fingers, lovely antique costume and bonnet. Condition: bisque is generally excellent excepting one tiny touch-up flake on bottom right eye rim, right thumb missing, body is original albeit worn and patched, upper kid arms replaced. Marks: (circle dot symbol). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1879, his early period bebe known as "circle/dot" in refernce to the symbolic marking. Value Points: one of the loveliest examples of this model, its large size allowing superb expression of the expressive features, which are enhanced by outstanding quality of bisque and painting of both face and hands, rare painted teeth, splendid eyes.
