17" (43 cm.) (excluding hair). Bisque socket head, brown glass inset eyes, painted lashes, brush-stroked brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, black hair in elaborate coiffure, French paper mache body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for the French market, circa 1890; the Parisian fascination with Chinoiserie culture was at its peak during this time, initiating the creation with a series of dolls in elaborate original and authentic costumes including elaborate coiffures. Value Points: the hair is arranged upon an original jade (?) frame with floral decoration, elaborate trim on the silk costume, and embroidered stacked heels designed for bound feet.
