Description
25" (64 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, uniquely sculpted rim cut creating a recessed scalp which allows for realistic application of wig, oval facial shape and elongated throat, high forehead, aquiline nose, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eye liner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig, kid poupee body with gusset jointing, shapely torso, stitched and separated fingers, wearing lovely antique gown, undergarments, fingerless gloves. Condition: generally excellent, with signed Jumeau body that is appropriate and very sturdy and clean. Comments: Leverd & Cie, the uniquely sculpted head rim design was deposed by that firm in 1869 and the model, likely made by Bru, was created for one or two years only. Value Points: among the rarest of the French poupees, combining rarity with exquisite and majestic beauty, superb bisque and painting, including detail of ears, nose and chin, and indentations around the eyes.
