Description
16" (41 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features, small shaded brown eyes with white eye dots, thick upper eyeliner with brown shadowing, accented nostrils of tiny nose, closed mouth with downcast lips, two chin seams, well-detailed ears, brown painted hair, firmly stuffed body with very wide disc-jointed five-seam legs, stitch-defined hands, stitch-jointed arms, nicely costumed in the Kruse style including antique shirt, woolen socks and shoes that may be original. Condition: generally excellent, original paint well-preserved albeit some fading of complexion. Marks: F 876 (faintly lettered on sole of left foot). Comments: Kathe Kruse, the early model, circa 1911, known as "froghand" due to its undefined thumb; the model was made for two years only. Value Points: rare Kruse model in wonderfully preserved condition.
