Description
5" (13 cm.) doll. 20" x 15" box. A heavy board box with decorative paper covers including gilt letter label "Paturage" (pasture), contains its original themed contents of farm animals and a shepherdess. Included is an all-bisque doll with swivel head, cobalt blue glass eyes, open mouth, two square-cut upper teeth, blonde mohair wig, peg-jointed bisque arms and legs, wearing original shepherdess costume, along with 12 various animals including cows, steer, donkey, goats, sheep, and dog, each still tied into the box with original red silk ribbons. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for the French Etrennes market, circa 1890. Value Points: the rarity of the labeled toy is enhanced by wide variety of animals, very fine quality of all-bisque doll.
