Description

12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with a different face on front and back, one featuring a scowling child, the other a happy child with beaming expression, each with blue glass eyes, closed mouth, painted facial features, on original body whose torso has an attached hood in which one face can be hidden when the other is being shown, fully-jointed at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, original antique costume and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Carl Bergner, circa 1890, with two rare bisque models by Simon and Halbig, the doll is a rare variation of the popular multi-face doll of the 1890's, unusual in size and facial models.
