Description
20" (51 cm.) Paper mache socket head, brown glass sleep eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes, feathered brows, open mouth, four teeth, auburn mohair wig, French composition and wooden body with one-piece walking legs, ball-jointing at shoulders and elbows. When the doll "walks" she also throws kisses, turns her head side to side and cries "mama". Condition: generally excellent. Comments: SFBJ, circa 1925. Value Points: the doll wears original red and cream crepe costume and matching cap, leather shoes signed "SFBJ Paris", original silk banner "Je Parle, Je marche, J'Envoie des Baisers" (I speak, I walk, I throw kisses"), and original box indicating the doll was sold by the Parisian department store, Au Samaritaine.
