Description
30" (76 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom and shoulderblades, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with painted outline of teeth between the accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair over cork pate, very plump French kid gusset-jointed bebe body with bisque lower arms and distinctively-sculpted hands. Condition: generally excellent, very sturdy body with few minor kid patches. Marks: (circle dot symbol at back of head) Bte SGDG (rim of forehead). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, early period bebe, circa 1878, the rare size and luxury quality indicate the doll was likely created as an exhibition model. Value Points: exceptionally fine quality of bisque, sculpting and painting, perfect bisque hands, fabulous antique magenta silk costume, signed Bru shoes.
