Description
33" (84 cm.) h. 33"w. The wooden framed one-room school house with bell tower at the peak of the steeple-roof has a glass front which looks upon the school room interior. At the front of the class is the female teacher with spectacles and her hair in a bun, and facing her is a row of students seated at their desks. The teacher and student each have paper mache head in a simple folk art manner, and their desks are laden with various lesson plans. When plugged in, the interior lights up, and action commences: the teacher raises the teaching rod and leans toward the students, while the students, in unison, lean toward the teacher eagerly listening to her wisdom. Against the back wall is the blackboard with the wise message "Always be Careful". The maker's name, Ralph K. Mosser, appears in a plaque on the front of the building. Very good overall. American, circa 1920s.
