14" (36 cm.) All-cloth doll with socket head, pressed and painted facial features, glazed brown eyes with upper glancing black pupils, black and brown upper eyeliner, one-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, blonde human hair, stitch-jointing at shoulders, stitched-bent left elbow, disc-jointed hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Kathe Kruse (foot); Kathe Kruse made in US Zone Germany (tag and box label, each also with lettered name "Evelyn IX/30"); Kathe Kruse KK Germany Unique Art Dolls (wrist tag). Comments: Kathe Kruse, circa 1950, a hand-lettered note in the box indicates that the doll was purchased for $22.50 from F.A.O. Schwarz in 1950 as a Christmas gift. Value Points: all original doll "Evelyn" with colorful polka dot dress, undergarments, socks and shoes, and hair coronet is preserved in near mint condition, with two original labels, in original box.
