11" (28 cm.) h. 13" x 7" base. A wooden platform with faux-rosewood finish and gilt stenciled trim,forms the stage for a charming elegant setting. A bisque lady with glass eyes and rococo style brunette wig is seated at a rosewood pianoforte which is decorated similarly to the platform,. Seated opposite her is a bisque gentleman with blonde periwig and blue glass eyes,and standing alongside is a little bisque doll posed on a dancing rod. Each doll is costumed in elegant silks and lace. When the key is turned and string pulled,music plays and the lady runs her fingers across the keys,the man conducts while lifting his head up and down and waving his arm,and the little girl twirls around and up and down in dainty dancing movements. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism functions well,beautiful quality of music. Marks: Spielwaren Frankl Wien V. Schonbrimmerstr 125 (original paper label on base. Comments: Rzebitschek,Prague,the family made small automata and music boxes in their small studio during the second half of the 19th century. Few examples exist.
