Description
11" (28 cm.) l. 7"h. table. The walnut table with heavily spindled legs has a wide center drawer and is laden with a bounty of pewter dishes, tankards, and service pieces, along with three woven baskets with terra cotta foodstuffs including root vegetables, meats and breads. Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Excellent condition. The creation of accessory objects such as the foodstuffs was a corollary specialty of the Neapolitan artists, with the aim of creating vibrant and realistic life scenes; these pieces are highly sought and quite rare.
