15" (38 cm.) All brown muslin doll with flat-dimensional face, painted facial features with painted large brown eyes with white eye dots, black brows and eye liner, outlined nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with row of teeth, black fleecy tightly curled yarn hair, stitch-jointed arms and legs, defined "scallop-shaped" fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Topsy Doll, Trade mark Ross & Ross Oakland, Ca." (cloth tag on body). Comments: Ross and Ross were listed in the Directory and Commodity Index of Oakland and East Bay District as manufacturers of "novelty stuffed dolls and animals, toy" between 1925-1935. Value Points: rare American cloth doll with original label, costume, well preserved.
