16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, grey glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, antique costume comprising dress, undergarments, woolen coat with lavender ribbons and black velvet trim, black velvet cap, fur stole, stockings, leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 137 9. Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1885, the doll resembles early French bebes and was made to compete with that market. Value Points: pretty bebe with wide-eyed gaze, lovely pale bisque.
