7" (18 cm.) Pulling a two-wheeled red cart with fancily decorated wheels is a curious animal, the zebra-horse cross-bread Zebroid. A Mexican man with blue shirt, white pants and tall Mexican hat is seated on the cart. When coil-spring wound, the man pulls on the reins, causing the unhappy zebroid to buck back and forth, his ears moving up and down, and thus causing the man to bounce up and down; the cart reluctantly moves forward. Marked Lehmann. Excellent condition, functions well. Comments: Lehmann, EPL model 752, circa 1925. The curious toy was inspired by the ill-fated actual attempt in early 1900's to cross-breed the wild zebra with the domesticated saddle animal; although the actual zebroid farm was unsuccessful, the toy enjoyed success for more than 20 years in three versions as Na-Nu, Zikra, and Dare Devil.
