13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, grey/blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, pierced ears, rose eye shadow, blonde mohair wig, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 8 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Sonneberg, maker unknown, circa 1885,designed to compete with the popular French doll of the era. Value Points: very lovely bebe, resembling the Jumeau portrait child, wears (frail) factory original dress, undergarments, leather shoes, bonnet.
