Description
6" (15 cm.) dolls. 13" x 20" box. A heavy cardboard box is fitted with 12 niches, each containing a paper mache figure designed for use with early dollhouse or theatre presentation, including occupational figures such as chef or housemaid, soldier in suit of armor, court figures, and more. Each has painted facial features and sculpted hair, cloth-wrapped body and carved wooden lower arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: early 1800s, probably German. Value Points: rare to find this early set complete and in original state of preservation, each doll wearing its original costume.
