Description
5" (13 cm.) x 3". Having fine mother-of-pearl veneers and gilt frame, escutcheon, and borders that surround a miniature watercolor featuring a background of the Sauerhof Hotel in Baden, Austria with surrounding grounds and wide boulevard in which 26 people are strolling, on horseback or riding carriages. The case opens to mirrored back and with original velvet-fitted base containing an original set of gold sewing tools, comprising scissors with silver blades, stiletto, needle case, thimble and two winders. Excellent condition. Vienna, circa 1830, with watercolor by Balthasar Wigand, and sewing case likely from his own workshops.
