25" (64 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump rounded cheeks, large dark blue sleep eyes which operate from a wire lever at the back of head, long painted lashes with dot accents, rose-blushed eye shadow, wide brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with pale accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, Steiner composition fully jointed body with separated curled fingers, nicely costumed in Marquis style. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sie C 5 (incised) (red stamp Bourgouin mark on back rim of head) J. Steiner (eyes). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1884, with uniquely designed eyes that appear on his dolls only. Value Points: the delicately tinted complexion is enhanced by plump face and gentle expression on the hard-to-find Steiner model.
