Description
26" (66 cm.) Bisque socket head, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, delicately painted lashes, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, separately sculpted pierced ears, impressed chin dimple and philtrum, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and plump limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: EJ/A 10 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, the very rare EJA bebe model was made for one or two years only, 1879/1880, in sizes 10 and 11 only, and few models are known to exist. Value Points: outstanding modeling of the rare doll is accentuated by most delicate softly blushed complexion on finest bisque, original body and body finish, antique burgundy silk costume may be original, undergarments, burgundy velvet and silk bonnet, socks, leather shoes.
