19" (48 cm.) Bisque head with flat-cut neck socket and having rich ebony black complexion, amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and brows, aquiline nose and furrowed detail of brows, open mouth with richly shaped coral-shaded lips, pierced ears, black fleecy wig over cork pate, French ebony composition and wooden fully-jointed body with lady shaped torso. Condition: hairline (possible reglue) at left side of face (visible inside head, and virtually imperceptible on exterior). Comments: French, from a series of portrait models created by Jumeau for automaton makers, circa 1890. Value Points: outstanding character portrait with superbly painted complexion, wonderful presentation in antique costume.
