18th Century Gentleman's Brown Velvet Suit with Gold Thread Embroidery

Sized for adult gentleman, the two piece ensemble is of lustrous brown velvet and comprises a long fitted jacket with matching knee-length trousers. The jacket has padded red silk lining, and is richly embellished with gold thread soutache embroidery and braid on the jacket front, cuffs, and large flaps that disguise the hidden pockets. Generally excellent, one small tear at back of jacket. Late 1700s.
