Description
6" (15 cm.) An elegantly costumed woman in long blue gown with red hat is holding a baby in bunting as she sits in a rickshaw being pulled by a man wearing an orange/red long jacket, grey pants, yellow shoes. The toy has original painted finish and operates by string cord movement that causes the wheels to turn, the man briskly walking forward, while the baby bounces up and down in the woman's lap. Marked Lehmann and having curious early Lehmann (non-trademarked) symbol of two pecking birds. Excellent condition, string needs replacement, man's hat shade missing. Comments: Lehmann's EPL model 550, inspired by Lehmann's fascination with the exotic East, the toy was registered as early as 1894.
