16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump cheeks and chin, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded outlined lips, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, light old retouch on body. Marks: 10. Comments: Kestner, circa 1884, the doll closely resembles the French bebe marked A.T. by Thuillier, whose market Kestner attempted to capture. Value Points: rare doll with dramatic blue eyes, beautiful expression and painting, original body, lovely costume with matching bonnet, undergarments, leather shoes.
