16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,cobalt blue glass inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with center accent line,ears pierced into head,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,dowel-jointed body with stretched-kid-over wooden torso,upper arms and lower legs,bisque forearms with well-outlined fingers,loose (so-called "baggy") kid cover over wooden upper legs (designed to allow very flexible articulation). Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Circa 1875,with Simon and Halbig head,made for the French market; the same head model is more commonly,found with the German stretched twill-over-wood body. The body of this present doll is based upon the 1862 body design by Marie Cruchet that has been found with a variety of different model heads during the 1860s and 1870s. Value Points: beautiful,rare and all-original doll wearing very beautiful brown velvet costume with green silk trim,undergarments,leather boots,fancy bonnet,and jewelry,also owns a second costume of blue/cream plaid wool with extended train.
