25" (64 cm.) Of finest word,the cabinet-maker-quality desk features a roll-front that opens to reveal a myriad of little file and pencil drawers decorated with fruitwood inlays (the two upper drawers having shortened back walls to allow a secret hiding place behind). The upper section features a locked cabinet,possibly for liquor storage,(key included),and three additional storage sections,and the desk base has three drawers,all with dove-tailed construction. The desk is accented with carved bone knobs. Excellent condition. English,Hepplewhite period,late 18th century. A rare and fine cabinet-makers work.
