17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead with slender oval face and elongated throat, brown painted hair drawn smoothly around the sides of her face and captured in a tight chignon at the back of her head, painted large blue eyes, upper eyeliner, grey eyeshadow, aquiline nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, muslin body, porcelain lower limbs. Condition: break and reglue on shoulderplate extending into back of hair. Comments: KPM Meissen, circa 1840. Value Points: rare Meissen model with superbly painted detail of hair, fine antique costume, the doll was featured by Estelle Johnston in her 1985 article "Cherishable China Dolls" in Doll Reader.
