17" (43 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head with black painted pate, elongated throat, painted blue eyes with black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, blonde mohair wig, kid poupee body with shapely waist, stitched mitten hands. Condition: generally excellent, light craquelure at upper bodice, tiny touch-up on nose tip. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: early poupee with original complexion and large painted eyes, sturdy original body, country costume with apron, fancy buttons, jewelry, coiffe.
