25" (64 cm.) Standing upon a wheeled wooden platform with decorative paper covers is a bisque head doll with blue glass eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears,. brunette mohair wig, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, wooden lower arms, wearing marching band costume including bicorn hat with French medallion. He is posed behind a tin decorated drum which stands on three ebony wooden legs, and holds two wooden drumsticks. When pulled along, the little boy beats the drums. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S pb (in star) H dep. Comments: attributed to Zinner & Sohne for the French market, circa 1890. Value Points: wonderful toy in grand size, with well-functioning movements.
