12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with untinted complexion and painted clown decorations, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, painted lashes, black single-stroke curvy brows, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, auburn mohair wig, French composition and wooden fully jointed body, costumed in red and green applique silk jester costume and cap with mirror design and silver bells. Condition: generally excellent Marks: 11/0. Comments: for the French market, circa 1890. Value Points: the cheerful jester has fine original painting of clown decorations, original body and body finish, and is carrying his own little bisque head marotte with painted mask.
