5"l. Lithographed tin comic strip trolley in red and yellow with front and back standing platforms features Dan the Skipper in tin standing at the driving crank. The toy employs an unusual mechanism which, when wound, causes the trolley to bump along in an erratic manner, then pause while it appears that Dan is trying to start things up again, and then it starts all over. Marked "Toonerville Trolley no. 280098 Copyright 1922 Fontaine Fox". Germany, based on the popular American comic strip by Fox, circa 1922. Excellent condition, functions well, some tin darkening.
