Description
9"l. A black and white zebra striped animal with horse-like features, hinged legs, printed harness, is pulling an open-top red and yellow lithographed cart with fancy designs, upon which is seated a dimensional man in yellow suit and porkpie hat, holding the reins. When wound, the mechanism propels the cart forward, then abruptly stops and backs up to the starting point, then repeats the action. Germany, circa 1920, the toy was inspired by a similar model made by Lehmann in this period, a humorous dig at the attempt to cross-breed the zebra and horse that was trendy at that time.
