13" (33 cm.) Each has carved wooden head with gofun finish, glass inset eyes, painted features, open mouth with painted teeth, black silk fiber hair in elaborate upswept manner trimmed with chirimen fawn spotted bows or comb, silk crepe upper arms, wooden torso, legs and lower arms, peg-jointing at cradle hips, knees and ankles, hollow-concave-shape of back thighs to allow greater flexibility, with original (albeit frail) costumes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: late Meiji era, circa 1900. Value Points: fine expressive features of face and elegant hair, rare body style.
