Description
20" (51 cm.) l. x 13" x 13". A five-sided wooden room with yellow painted exterior trimmed with maroon and green, has interior walls with richly lithographed scenes to simulate castle architecture. The center panel has "paintings" of four Bavarian kings of the 19th century, highlighted by King Ludwig II as a young boy, along with his grandfather, his father and his brother. There is a short curved staircase with spindled railing and a gallery designed for dramatic entrance to the room. Included are various furnishings, and, notably, a metal bust of Ludwig II along with a framed image of the famous castle Schloss Neuschwanstein that Ludwig II so famously commissioned during his reign, situated on a mountaintop overlooking his childhood home. A gentleman dollhouse doll in military costume stands in the room. Excellent condition, exterior is overpainted. Germany, late 19th-century, a rare room with fascinating historical connections.
