13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass eyes, painted lashes and brows, impressed character features of impressed dimples and eye crinkles, closed mouth with row of painted teeth between the smiling lips, painted clown decorations, fleecy wig, wooden lower arms and legs, painted black boots, wooden torso with bellows which, when squeezed, cause the arms to clap the cymbals and the eyes to rapidly blink open and closed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 157 4. Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1885. Value Points: rare blinking mechanism on the wonderfully characterized face, wearing original jester costume and cap.
