21" (53 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head, torso, and solid skirt-shaped base, oval-shaped face, very elongated throat, sculpted detail of eyes with heavy eyelids and deeply-defined sockets, aquiline nose, closed mouth, fully-sculpted ears, linen upper arms, wooden lower arms and hands with separately-carved elongated fingers, painted bodice, original tacked-on muslin skirt cover. Condition: generally excellent, original finish with small nose flake. Comments: Continental, likely French, mid-1700s. Value Points: exquisite sculpting of the heavy-lidded lady with aristocratic, yet gentle, demeanor.
