Description
10" (25 cm.) h. 6 1/4" shoulder width. Bisque swivel head with very plump cheeks and throat, on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with defined bosom and shoulder blades, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, very thick dark eyeliner, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked brows with feathered detail, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined heart-shaped upper lip, four painted teeth between the lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, antique silk bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bte SGDG (incised on crown rim) Depose (front shoulder plate) (impressed circle/dot symbol at the back of head). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1878, the model was deposed by him, as indicated by the rare incised markings on forehead and shoulderplate. Value Points: very early example of the gorgeous luxury-quality bebe with splendid eyes, rare painted teeth, and finest bisque and modeling.
