15" (38 cm.) All-wooden doll with one-piece head and torso, carved details of face and hair with painted-over-gesso finish, well-defined eye sockets, painted brown eyes, black and red upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, closed mouth, sculpted finger curls, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, metal lower arms and legs, painted blue ankle boots, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, nose rub, finish worn on hands. Comments: Joel Ellis, circa 1875. Value Points: hard-to-find larger size of the sturdy American doll.
