14" (36 cm.) 23"l. cradle. A metal curved bed cradle with brass finial and canopy top is lavishly fitted with mattress, pillows, bed covers and canopy in superb lace and fabrics, and has an unusual lever at the base designed for foot-rocking the cradle while seated in a nearby chair. The cradle contains a wax over paper mache child with blue glass sleep eyes, closed mouth, blonde mohair wig,muslin torso, waxed paper mache lower limbs, bare feet, wearing superb antique baby costume and undergarments, woolen stockings, shoes. Excellent condition of both cradle and doll, some typical fading of facial features on wax. Circa 1880.
