16" (41 cm.) Paper mache swivel head with painted eggshell over gesso finish, shaded hair, enamel eyes, closed mouth, muslin body with paper mache lower arms and legs, bare feet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Japanese play doll, late 19th century, with superb detail of sculpting such as ears and double chin, fine original padded costume, original finish.
