10" (25 cm.) A four-fold, eight panel screen with leather edging decorated with scrolled design is exuberantly decorated with 8 printed paper panels signifying important persons and events in the life of the famed Danish author, Hans Christian Anderson, as well as two allegorical panels from the world of fairy tales. An original full-size decoupage screen of the same design was actually made by Anderson in the later years of his life and is on exhibit at the Odense Museum in Denmark. In the early 20th century, likely about 1925, two miniature copies of that original screen were made; this is one of them. Excellent condition.
