Description
12" (30 cm.) Carved wooden doll with paint-over-gesso finish, swivel head, rich black complexion, black short curly hair, painted midnight-brown upper-glancing eyes, closed mouth, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, metal hands and feet with painted blue heeled ankle boots, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Joel Ellis, circa 1875. Value Points: rare black-complexioned model from the New England doll and toy carriage maker is wonderfully-preserved.
