Description

15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head with alternate face on front and back, one with broad smiling expression, the other with frown and sculpted wrinkles, each with closed mouth and brown glass eyes. A custom blonde mohair wig allows either face to show, and the doll is on composition ball-jointed body with non-original but pleasing paper-mache lower legs having painted blue boots that match her blue coat, muff and mittens. Excellent condition except body as noted and few cheek rubs on frowning face. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1890, the double-faced doll is virtually never found, has two rare model faces.
