Description

19" (48 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head with slender face, elongated throat, black sculpted hair in elaborate curls at the crown wrapped with a tightly braided coil, curls at forehead and above the ears, arranged curls at the back of the head, muslin stitch-jointed body, porcelain lower limbs. Condition: generally excellent, some hair rubs. Comments: Germany, circa 1880, the doll was shown in Faurholt's Book of Dolls and Dollhouses with a note about the coiffure that "so much happens here that it would be difficult to describe...one doubts that such a coiffure could be achieved with real hair." The doll wears her original fine woolen gown and undergarments.
