Description
27"h. x 15"w. x 6"d. A finely crafted secretary with roll-front desk is finished in burled mahogany with maple accents, and features a center panel flanked by two curved door cabinets above the desk portion. The desk with pull-out surface has a hinged writing panel and two hidden flat-top receptacles along with fitted niches having bone inlay keyholes and brass pulls with figural lion's heads. There are two drawers below. A round hole at the peak with hollow space behind indicates the desk once held a clock which, although lacking now, could be replaced. English, early 19th century. Excellent condition except lacking clock and few veneer repairs.
