16" (41 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead turned slightly to the side, brown sculpted hair with tendrils of curls around the forehead and in front of sculpted ears, waved loosely back into a formed chignon captured under a fitted gold metallic cap, heavy-lidded enamel eyes, closed mouth with slightly-upturned lip corners forming a gentle smile, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, green painted stockings, black heeled shoes with red bows, wearing original elaborate silk and velvet costume with rich braid and embroidery. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, superb state of preservation and unique portrait-like expression.
